  1. Pinhole Day

    April the 25th was the International Pinhole Day. Pinhole photography means taking pictures but instead of a lens, one has to use a very tiny hole through which the light will pass onto the light sensitive medium.

    There are endless possibilities for getting the results from making the hole into a camera body cap to building a camera out of a tin and using photo paper. As the nature of pinhole photography is going low-tech, I built my camera out of a 15 cm diameter and 10 cm deep tin. ...

  2. At Lake Peipsi

    I seem to be catching up with posting as this is already from the middle of April. To be honest then we took the trip to see the ice pileup on the shores of Lake Peipsi, but as I discovered from satellite shots later on, the winds had changed over the weekend, and had cleared the shores and driven all the ice to Russia. This year the ice didn’t creep very far, but I believe that it was in the 20s that ice was pushed 700 meters inland taking down a lot of houses that got in its way.

  3. Black and White

    I know I mentioned earlier that I wouldn’t be putting up my BW shots, I still scanned the enlarged prints in and here they are. The pictures have been take in different locations in Estonia over the period of about six months.

  4. Hot Air Balloons Over Keila

    In the middle of March I had the opportunity to photograph the UpViser Cup held here in Estonia.

    The early start was supposed to take place around 8 am but as it was snowing heavily and the clouds were low, then the first start was cancelled. The location was also determined two hours before the start, as they wanted to fly over the town of Keila and this of course depended on the wind direction.   5. Ice castles

    Now that the warmth of the spring resembles summer, it is fitting to load up some cold wintery shots.
    There is a nice waterfall about 30 minutes’ drive from home and when the winter is cold for a long period of time, it freezes over creating a huge ice castle.

    Using a neutral density filter to decrease the shutter speed, I managed to get those two pictures.
