Today the Russian federation and its allies has decided to immediately cut all oil and gas supplies to Western Europe. Although strategic reserves will allow life to continue for at least 17 days, current expectation is that public life as we know it will grind to a halt around the 28th of this month.
In a swift reply, the NATO forces, and especially the US have condemned this move, calling at an aggressive and illegal attack on Western values and democracy. The US has demanded an immediate reopening of all pipelines at the current cut-off point, the Caspian Sea.
The US has immediately started to investigate a possible troop build-up in the border area, The Russians have replied in a similar way and said that “any illegal border passing would be dealt with swiftly”.
